About Lady & Sons

Lady & Sons feels like the kind of Savannah stop that already knows exactly why diners walk through the door. Set at 102 W Congress St in the middle of historic downtown, the restaurant leans fully into comfort food without trying to dress the experience up as anything more complicated. That straightforward approach works. The room has an easy, bustling energy, and the whole place carries the familiar appeal of a well-known Southern dining room where fried chicken, sides, and sweet desserts are expected rather than optional.

The menu is built around Southern classics, and that focus gives the restaurant its charm. Fried chicken is the obvious centerpiece, arriving with the kind of crisp, golden coating that makes the table quiet for a second. Traditional sides round things out in the way a proper Southern meal should, with rich, hearty flavors and no hesitation about butter, seasoning, or comfort. Nothing about the food feels timid. Instead, each dish seems designed to deliver exactly what the description promises. That kind of confidence matters, especially in a restaurant tied so closely to a recognizable name and a very specific style of cooking.

Location also adds to the appeal. Congress Street places Lady & Sons right where many visitors already want to be, making it an easy lunch stop during a downtown stroll or a relaxed dinner after sightseeing. There is something satisfying about finding a restaurant that fits naturally into the rhythm of the neighborhood rather than feeling like a forced detour.

Reviews across the years often circle around the same themes: dependable Southern comfort, a lively atmosphere, and dishes that hit hardest for anyone craving classic Savannah-style indulgence. Some diners praise the nostalgic feel, while others focus on generous portions and the restaurant’s reputation. That consistency says a lot. Lady & Sons is not chasing trends, not reinventing Southern food, and not pretending to be minimalist. Instead, the restaurant offers a familiar, crowd-pleasing version of the classics, and that honesty becomes part of the experience.

For anyone looking for polished fine dining, another address in Savannah may be a better fit. For anyone chasing warm, filling, unmistakably Southern food in a central location, Lady & Sons earns attention the old-fashioned way: with comfort, flavor, and a name that still pulls a crowd.

Ms. Paula Deen is the QUEEN OF SOUTHERN COOKING, hands down!! Very Friendly staff & service . I had collard greens , fried cat fish, fried chicken , buttered rice , pot roast, chicken & dumplings, cheese biscuits , yams , gooey butter cake , peach cobbler and my favorite, banana pudding . The fried chicken & fried catfish were seasoned perfectly. They came out hot & fresh. You will leave this place , full & satisfied ! The restaurant also has a cute gift shop. I bought a few bottles of her seasonings so hopefully I can create some of her delicious food in my kitchen. Love you , Ms Paula

If ever in Savannah, I must try Paula Deen’s restaurant The Lady & Sons, so we did. On our first night, I made sure that I made reservations online for the following day. We got to the restaurant and it felt like eating at someone’s home. Nothing fancy. Plastic dishes, very relaxed atmosphere. The menu, I must admit was a little confusing because its not extensive but they offer family style dining where you choose one, two or three entrees and shareable sides. This wasn’t going to work for us because there are picky eaters in my party. Therefore, we opted for individual dinners. I chose the fried chicken with mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and peach cobbler. I did order their “best Bloody Mary “ drink but it wasn’t to my liking. My family enjoyed their dinners, overall it was a nice family experience with southern home cooking food.

We were seated earlier than our reservation time, which was a nice. Our server was attentive, and we enjoyed a family-style dinner. The food was hot and delicious — I especially liked the chicken and the collard greens.

First time trying this place, and overall, I had a great experience. I entered this one night to have dinner here with my family. The food here was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken was by far the best I've ever had. It was so juicy and flavorful that we had to get multiple refills . The pot roast was a little bit on the salty side for me, but it was still good. The creamed corn was my favorite side as it balanced the taste of the other dishes. The staff here were polite, friendly, and professional. I will most definitely be coming back here again soon.

Parking cost more than my order did so parking was challenging. The hostess and my server were both kind, friendly and helpful whenever I inquired about menu items. I had a 30 minute wait and food came quickly to my table. Prices for the amount of food is amazing! I love the family style AUCE. Excellent variety of menu options.
